Fun Day at School

 We had a fun day at school last week. With Covid stopping us from going on our Zoo trip to Auckland. Team Maunga Iti decided that we would have a fun day.

The children made mosaic pictures, Painted pictures, and went swimming.

Halloween Dressup

                                      Today Aimee our Librarian had a Halloween lunchtime in the library.

Life Education Visit

 Today our class visited the Life Education classroom. The children really enjoyed their visits and learnt that everyone is special and Unique. They learnt about actions they do that can help boost other people and what bugs other people.

Greats and Grands writing

 Last week we had to cancel our Greats and Grands day. The students wrote about what they liked doing with their grandparents. They learnt from the students in Team Moana how to use google draw and pic collage to create their pictures. The students liked working with the older students.

Maori Language Week 2021

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori!

We learnt the Maori name and the sign for the colours. We read the story "In the Beginning" by Peter Gossage. We chose one of these gods to draw. We made a poi as well.

Worm farming at home

 Here are Grace's pictures of her putting the worm farm in the ground with her dad. We had to dig a couple of holes to find a good place for it to go. As you can see, we found some worms to put in with it. 

Daddy even helped me make the holes bigger. 

Dalla's "Three little pigs house"

 Over the weekend, Dalla and her parents went about making House of Sticks (for the Three Little Pigs Story).

We found an array of sticks in one of our paddocks and popped them into a paper bag. 

Once back in the Shed, Dalla's Dad went about cutting the sticks to equal lengths. Together, we then went about nailing the sticks together. Dalla's Dad also made a little door for the house so that the Piggy could get in and out.

When the structure of the house was built, Dalla and her Mum went and found greenery for the roof and then glued it on top. Dalla also found a daisy that she wanted to use for the doorknob.

After the completion of the house, Dalla also drew a Little Pig and the Big Bad Wolf on Metallic Card/Foam. We then glued them onto some old ice block sticks, so that they can be used for pretend play.

If you look carefully at the Wolf, you will see the extra sharp teeth that Dalla has drawn.

Overall, Dalla had a lot of fun making her House of Sticks!

Fun times for Grace and her family.

 Grace was so keen to get on her new trampoline for a bounce with her little sister Violet that they were both on it before daddy had time to finish putting the net and the green slide on. 

Dalla's learning about rectangle shapes

 Dalla spent one evening last week trying to find items in a rectangular shape - these are a couple of pictures of what she found up at our Whare.

Last week, we went exploring in the bush trying to find gold (we didn't find any). 

Dalla was very excited to be out and about and enjoyed having a look in her backyard

.Dalla also decided that she wanted to be a superhero, so she dressed up in her costume before carrying on to do her school work.
