We are a New entrant and Year 1 class in Ohaeawai, Northland, New Zealand. Our Class is called Team Maunga Iti and our Teacher is Mrs Ritchie. We have 15 children in our class.
Every Friday we have children and whanau who will be turning 5 come in to see what happens in our class. Each week we show the children different parts of a school day. This week we used materials like tend frames, buttons, counters, to count out a specific number of items from a larger group. This shows children's ability to apply their counting skills
Today Our classnwent to the World of Maths, which is a hands on maths experience. They enjoyed working in small groups to explore and solve problems.
We have been working on our art for the art auction. We are very lucky to have had Kaira's Mum and Nana come into our class to help us make Matariki Mobiles out of clay. These photos show us preparing the clay . We had to roll the clay out. Then we used star and moon shapes to cut out the clay. We used different tools to make patterns. It was so much fun.
